Children across the country have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is considered that those from the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds will be among those affected most.
The aggregate impact of lost time in education may be substantial for a large group of children. To mitigate this, government has announced a programme of catch up funding in addition to core funding for the period up to 2024 – 2025. This additional investment will also support the delivery of a £30,000 starting salary for all new teachers.
Trust schools are required to use this funding for specific activities to support their pupils’ education recovery in line with all curriculum expectations.
